Orange County SC take to the road for the first time in 2018 on Wednesday, as they face OKC Energy FC for the first of two games in Oklahoma this week.

The teams enter the match on similar terms, with new head coaches — OKC is now lead by former interim Colorado Rapids boss Steve Cooke — and are coming off losses at the weekend.

OKC have a roster chock full of USL experience, and in the past Orange County have struggled against Energy FC, as their last win against the green-clad opponent came in the 2015 season. Add to that the trickiness of the Oklahoma road trip, which has often been difficult for the team, and this is a tough fixture.

That said, it’s a new season, and even with the solid cast Cooke has in OKC there’s a worry that the team may not truly be contenders this year. Combine that with the newness of the season, and I don’t think OC needs to enter the match thinking they’re doomed to lose. But they’ll have to be up for the challenge.

Forward Michael Seaton is out for this game for Orange County, after the USL Disciplinary Committee upheld his red card in Saturday’s game against Sacramento Republic, so Braeden Cloutier will have to bring in a new player into the starting lineup this evening.

Tale of the Tape:

Orange County SC: 1 point (0-1-1), 15th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -1; Last two games: L-D

OKC Energy FC: 3 points (1-1-0), 10th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -2; Last two games: L-W

How to Watch OKC Energy FC vs. Orange County SC: The game is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm PT at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City. You can watch the stream below or in USL’s matchcenter.
