Orange County SC will play their final preseason game at 11 am on Friday, when they take on USL expansion side Las Vegas Lights FC at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of Friday’s preseason tilt is Freddy Adu.
In his first game with Las Vegas, Adu notched an assist against the very team he debuted with as a 14-year-old – the youngest player to ever be drafted in the MLS.
It was back in January that Adu decided to end his break from the sport and try out with Las Vegas.
Have made a decision to start fresh after a year away from soccer. This decision is solely based on the fact that I want to play as much as possible this year then move forward from there. Have discovered my love for the sport again . News soon!— Freddy Adu (@FreddyAdu) January 19, 2018
Orange County have had a solid preseason so far. Going 3-2-0, they have beaten UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton, as well as Club Tijuana’s U-20 squad, but lost to University of San Diego and LA Galaxy II. This tune-up against Vegas may be vital ahead of the season opener.
After Friday’s preseason game, Orange County SC will set their sights on the team’s season opener at home against Didier Drogba and Phoenix Rising FC at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 17.
Las Vegas Lights FC (coached by Chelís, don’t forget!) open their season on March 17 at fellow USL expansion side Fresno FC.
