On Tuesday, “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on CBS aired a segment where members of the show’s staff challenged Los Angeles Football Club to a game, at the expansion team’s training ground at UCLA. The opportunity was part of a paid integration by Heineken, the official beer of LAFC and MLS.
Several LAFC notables were among those involved in the segment: LAFC head coach Bob Bradley, star Carlos Vela, Walker Zimmerman, Tyler Miller and Jordan Harvey, who hit a goal right up the gut in the short-sided game, which clearly inspired Diego Rossi in his goal against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday (or was inspired by Rossi, although it appears this segment was taped during preseason).
And while Corden is better known stateside for his “carpool karaoke” segments on his show with celebrities, the Englishman has soccer bonafides, as a West Ham United fan and even showing a bit of nifty footwork in the game against LAFC.
