It was a return to form for the team, which put in strong performances all over the field, from the attack balancing teamwork and individual skill, to the defense and goalkeeper helping to keep a clean sheet.
Angels on Parade’s staff has narrowed the candidates for our Man of the Match poll for this game to four nominees:
- Steven Beitashour: Played the role he most often played last season for Toronto FC, as a right wingback instead of a right fullback. Brought width to LAFC’s attack and helped to ensure the shutout, LAFC’s second of the season.
- Mark-Anthony Kaye: The young Canadian appeared to be a man on a mission in Vancouver. Put in a good two-way shift, full of defensive nous and nearly flawless in his distribution from midfield.
- Marcos Ureña: It was the Costa Rican’s most productive shift yet for LAFC, as he notched assists on both goals and worked his socks off all night, performing his role to a T.
- Carlos Vela: Scored yet another golazo to win the game. Vela’s knack for finding a moment of magic has been the difference in LAFC’s games this year, and he showed that against the Whitecaps.
