Orange County SC put their three-game winning streak on the line on Saturday, as they travel to Texas to take on San Antonio FC.
SAFC were the class of the USL Western Conference for the first half of last season, and while they finished well enough they couldn’t parlay that into a deep playoff run despite finishing second overall in the league in the regular season. This year, they’ve sputtered a bit, but they have kept far more continuity than most USL teams and it feels like it will only be a matter of time before they really round into form.
OC have been the hottest team in the USL lately, and are starting to get attention for their winning streak. Were those wins more a product of good play or facing weak opponents? Every game they win bolsters their case to be legitimately good, and a win over San Antonio in Texas would be an impressive statement. Still, expect this to be a stiff test.
Orange County have no suspensions, and attacker Mikey Lopez is back for this game for San Antonio after serving a suspension. He was impressive in one of SAFC’s previous games so he’ll likely be eager to get back in the goals for this game. Should be a good game.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 10 points (3-1-1), 2nd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +8; Last five games: W-W-W-L-D
San Antonio FC: 5 points (1-1-2), 11th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: 0; Last four games: D-D-W-L
