With Orange County SC cruising on a four-game winning streak, more league recognition came their way, with USL announcing on Tuesday that goalkeeper Andre Rawls was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 5 of the season.

Rawls made eight saves in OCSC’s 3-0 win over San Antonio FC, a road triumph that ended up with a much larger scoreline than the run of play indicates. Rawls was counted on to keep the hosts out of the net time and again, and was rewarded with yet another clean sheet.

Rawls was also second in the USL Player of the Week vote, behind Indy Eleven’s Soony Saad, garnering 32 percent of the vote (full disclosure: I am a member of the voting panel).

Rawls is on loan to Orange County from MLS side New York City FC, and he has started every game so far this season for the USL side. It certainly turns out to have been a savvy move by OC to pick him up and give him some playing time.

Another Orange County SC player, Thomas Enevoldsen, was named to the Team of the Week bench. Enevoldsen scored a goal and an assist to pad the lead and ensure the result, as the Dane continues his hot start to life in the U.S.

Congrats to Andre and Thomas, and here’s hoping more such selections will come.
