Banc of California Stadium has finally opened, and beyond the excitement and marveling at what seems like a magnificent stadium, on the field this means Los Angeles Football Club’s long road trip is about to come to an end.
The last game of the road trip is also the farthest LAFC have travelled to date, going to Montreal, a week after playing in the other side of Canada against Vancouver.
No matter the result in this game, with three wins in a long road trip to open their first ever season, this opening swing has undoubtably been a success.
With that being said, LAFC would like to cap off the road trip with a win. Their opponent, the Montreal Impact, have been dealing with a road trip of their own, and played their only home game at their secondary venue, Olympic Stadium, because Stade Saputo was covered in snow.
Montreal was thought to be an Eastern Conference bottom-dweller coming into the year, but so far they’ve played pretty well, despite losing their last game, 3-1 to the New York Red Bulls.
LAFC, meanwhile, shook off two straight losses last Friday with a 2-0 victory over the Whitecaps. It was a good performance, and exactly the bounce-back performance that the Black-and-Gold were looking for.
It was nice to get back on the scoreboard, but even more so for LAFC to record a shutout, their first since the first game against Seattle. They will look to keep up that performance against one of the best players in the league, Ignacio Piatti.
Predicton: LAFC win 2-1. Marcos Ureña grabs his first goal of the season, as does Walker Zimmerman, and LAFC close out their road trip on a high note.
