Los Angeles Football Club has officially opened Banc of California Stadium in style, christening their shiny new home with a goal from Laurent Ciman in second-half added time against the Seattle Sounders.
And my, oh my, was it beautiful.
A game that appeared to be destined to be a stalemate had one final moment for LAFC to change the narrative. After Carlos Vela earned a free kick outside the box in the 92nd minute, LAFC’s captain stepped up and, in the most dramatic fashion possible, put a rocket of a shot right off the hands of Stefan Frei (or the ground right in front of him, but we’ll take it).
Could you write a better ending to LAFC’s home opener? Could there have been more drama, and more exhilaration for the crowd and the players, as LAFC closes out the home opener in style?
I’ll answer it for you. Nope.
