After a spectacular week in which he scored four goals, two of those game-winning goals, and notched a hat trick in one of two games, Orange County SC forward Thomas Enevoldsen has been named USL Player of the Week for Week 3 of the 2018 season.

Enevoldsen, a new addition to the the Orange County roster this season after playing in his native Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, garnered 60 percent of the vote from national media who cover the league (full disclosure: I am one of the voters on the national panel). He is the first Orange County player to win USL Player of the Week since Trevin Caesar in the final week of the 2016 regular season.

The Dane is now tied for first in scoring in USL, with four goals. The season is early, of course, but we’ve seen that players who lead in statistical categories usually play for winning teams and tend to get the national attention, something Orange County could use more of.

In addition to Enevoldsen’s honor, OC defender Alex Crognale was named to the USL Team of the Week bench, as he helped Orange County maintain two clean sheets on their Oklahoma road trip.

So congrats to the players on the honors, and hopefully there are many more coming in the future!
