Liverpool make the Champions league final despite 4-2 loss on the night

Liverpool made it, in the end by the skin of their teeth, to their 8th European Cup final. They struck early, with Sadio Mane getting a goal inside 10 minutes, and then after a James Milner own goal made it 1-1 on the night, Georginio Wijnaldum scored his first goal away from home in three years to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead, and real breathing room. They needed it at the the end too, after an Edin Dzeko goal and a late brace by Radja Nainggolan brought Roma to within one goal of extra time. Still, Liverpool made it through, and we are now set for a Liverpool-Real Madrid Champions League final, which should be something.

Roman Torres injury could put him in danger of missing the World Cup

Roman Torres picked up a injury late last weekend which caused him to miss the Seattle Sounders’ game vs. Los Angeles Football Club. However it is worrying now because the injury might be worse than initially thought, and could cause Torres to miss the World Cup. It’s a hamstring injury, and those are notoriously hard to diagnose, and recover from because it’s very easy to get reinjured trying to return from. “It’s not good. It’s not good. It’s a hamstring injury and it’s not good. That’s all I’ll say on it now. But that was a blow,” coach Brian Schmetzer told reporters when asked about Torres. This will be Panama’s first ever World Cup, and it would be a real bummer if Torres is forced to miss out because of injury.

Keeper in Argentina’s 3rd division has homer backing into the bushes meme as his goalie jersey

Ah, 2018. It looks like Nicolas Caprio, and his team Ferro de General Pico in Argentina’s third division, came up with a clever new goalkeeping jersey. It’s green, and it has a picture of Homer Simpson, representing the Homer backs into the bushes meme, which is used to represent awkward situations when people wish they could just disappear. As far as memes go, there are certainly worse ones to use, and the jersey seems to have turned out really well. Hopefully soccer teams and players can keep being creative and come up with new funny ideas.

Top 5 New York Derby goals

Though its only a few years old, the New York Derby is one of the fiercest rivalries in MLS. It’s had some very interesting results, great players participating like David Villa, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Sacha Kljestan, Jack Harrison, etc. And there have been some great goals as well. MLSsoccer.com has the top 5 goals in this rivalry so far.
