Orange County SC were back in the win column over the weekend, and on Tuesday, USL recognized an OC player in their Team of the Week, naming goalkeeper Andre Rawls to the Team of the Week bench for Week 13.
Rawls notched a shutout, on the road, in the 405 Derby on Sunday, which was a 1-0 win for Orange County over LA Galaxy II. Rawls was the busiest man on the field, arguably, as he kept his team in the match, before Thomas Enevoldsen scored the winner late on.
Rawls, on loan from New York City FC, is one of the best ‘keepers in USL statistically. He leads the league in shutouts, with seven so far, and is second in saves, two behind Tulsa’s Fabian Cerda. Overall, OC have conceded just eight goals, and only two teams in the whole league have allowed fewer.
So safe to say so far that Rawls, the Orange County defense and the team overall is quietly putting together a monster season. Congrats to Andre for the selection this week.
