The summer transfer window is mere weeks away and so transfer rumors are revving up once again. On Wednesday, a transfer rumor involving Los Angeles Football Club was floated, as Ecuadorian outlet Mercado Fútbol EC reported LAFC were looking at forward Michael Estrada.
Estrada, 22, currently plays for Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, where he has Copa Libertadores experience. Prior to that, he’s played in his native country for El Nacional and Macará, since making his pro debut in 2013. He does also have three caps for La Tri since making his debut last year.
Now, does this rumor make sense for LAFC? Not really, to be honest. Any team will seek to improve, but is Estrada going to break into the LAFC lineup right away? On top of that, LAFC already have an international slot crunch when the window opens, with Andre Horta joining the roster. If Estrada were added, who would have to be moved?
Worth noting this is the first notice of LAFC being linked to Estrada, so it may be a matter of LAFC keeping an eye on him for the next couple windows to see if he might be a future signing. For the summer window? It’s not impossible but this one seems pretty unlikely at present.
