Los Angeles Football Club won their first U.S. Open Cup game ever, beating Fresno FC 2-0 at home. They managed to draw another USL team, and another California team, with their next opponents being Sacramento Republic FC.

Sacramento Republic pulled off one of the upsets of the Open Cup so far this season, beating the Seattle Sounders 2-1 after extra time. Now, Sac looks to down another MLS side as they come into Banc of California Stadium and take on LAFC.

After beating the Sounders in the Open Cup last round, Sacramento Republic FC went 1-1-1 in 3 games in USL play, drawing 0-0 with Phoenix Rising FC, beating Fresno FC 1-0, and losing 1-0 to San Antonio FC.

Still, they are in a good spot, currently 3rd in the Western Conference of USL.

LAFC’s last game was their thrilling 4-3 over the San Jose Earthquakes. Still riding high on that victory, LAFC will look to play well and advance in the USOC.

The San Jose game was back on June 9th, so all the players should be well rested.

Expect some changes to the main lineup, but also that LAFC will put out a strong team as they take this competition seriously.

Prediction: LAFC 2, Sacramento Republic 1. LAFC wins a highly contested game, and Dio continues his hot start by again getting on the scoresheet.
