Orange County SC announced on Monday that they have “mutually agreed to part ways” with winger/forward Nansel Selbol.
The 21-year-old Nigerian, who was touted as a big signing in the preseason after coming over from Swope Park Rangers, did not find regular playing time with Orange County. He scored one golazo, against LA Galaxy II in the 405 Derby:
Happy to get my first appearance and blessed to score my first goal for @orangecountysoccer! Great thanks to the team, the fans and the city for the support! #MYOCSC #405Derby pic.twitter.com/Ff9jWPsgY2

He ended up suffering a frightening-looking injury at the end of that match, but apparently came through it with no lasting effects.
All told, Selbol made eight appearances and scored the above goal. While Orange County are third in USL in goals scored with 28, and the team is doing well in the standings, it’s a bit of a mystery why it didn’t quite work out with Selbol. Of course, it happens. Best of luck to him moving forward, and OC will be back in action on Friday in a big clash against Phoenix Rising FC.
