Los Angeles Football Club entered their second competition this season, defeating Fresno FC in the fourth round of the 2018 U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night at The Banc. The win means LAFC get to move on to Round of 16 in the tournament.
While it was a game against lower league opposition, LAFC did have to do some work to get the win, but in the end they were very much the better side. Now, it’s your turn to pick the Man of the Match for LAFC against Fresno FC. Angels on Parade staff has selected the following nominees:
- Tristan Blackmon: Seems to be finding his footing as he gets playing time, and was active in the back while getting involved in the attack, too.
- Latif Blessing: The man who hangs his hat on Open Cup performances delivered for his new team, as he scored the insurance goal to seal up the win for the home side.
- Lee Nguyen: Safe to say this was Nguyen’s best game for LAFC by a long shot. He’s still playing his way to full fitness and developing chemistry with his teammates, but looks like he’s getting a handle on how to fit in with this attack.
- Walker Zimmerman: The captain on the night gave Fresno plenty to think about, as they dealt with him in the back and on numerous forays upfield and in attack.
