Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. San Jose

Which player stood out in a wild win?

MLS: Los Angeles FC at San Jose Earthquakes Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club returned to winning ways in MLS regular season play in the most dramatic way possible, with a 97th-minute goal for a 4-3 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

It was a roller-coaster night, to be sure, but it’s time for that postgame ritual, the Man of the Match poll. Based on the input from Angels on Parade staff, here are the nominees for the Quakes win:

  • Steven Beitashour: Had a goal and an assist in his return to his hometown and against his old team. Dude was excited about his goal but was classy enough to not celebrate.
  • Adama Diomande: Scored two goals, both equalizers, to keep LAFC in the match. Diomande now has three goals in his last two league games.
  • Benny Feilhaber: Put in a steady shift in the middle of the field in a wild match.
  • Joao Moutinho: Come on, the first MLS SuperDraft pick in LAFC history scored the winning goal, and it was his first competitive goal. Talk about seizing the moment.
