USL announced on Wednesday in their weekly discipline report that Orange County SC defender Alex Crognale has been suspended for three games after review of a play by the Independent Discipline Panel in OC’s 3-0 loss against LA Galaxy II on Saturday.
While the league did not specify the incident, the apparent play in question came in the first half, when the broadcast of the game picked up Crognale kicking out at a Galaxy II player off the ball. It appeared the players had been going back and forth, but the play that was picked up by the camera was the kick out, so it’s not altogether surprising that he got caught.
The result is that Crognale will be out against San Antonio FC on Saturday, as well as Swope Park Rangers on July 18 and Saint Louis FC on July 21.
Crognale, on loan from Columbus Crew SC, has played 13 league games for Orange County to date, scoring two goals.
On the bright side, Orange County seem to have enough cover in his absence, with Jos Hooiveld, Thomas Juel-Nielsen and Walker Hume all on the roster.
