With the 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season in the books, U.S. Soccer honored the top performers from the season that was.
LAFC Slammers completed a successful season in the Girls’ Development Academy, with the U-18/19 team winning the national title and the U-16/17 team reaching the national semifinals. Two individual players from each of those teams also received individual honors for their play during the season.
U-18/19 star Kate Wiesner was named USSDA West Conference Player of the Year at the end of season awards.

In addition, Wiesner was selected to the West Conference Best XI for the season, alongside teammate Jenna Nighswonger.
Meantime, at the U-16/17 level, LAFC Slammers midfielder Jaelyn Eisenhart and forward Simone Jackson were named to the West Conference Best XI at their age level.
All four players have been getting called up to the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team, and while they are all still very young, it’s probably a good idea to remember their names for the future, as they could be in line for great things.
Congrats to Kate, Jenna, Jaelyn and Simone, and good news, LAFC Slammers will get their own night for LAFC at their U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal clash against Portland Timbers at Banc of California Stadium on Wednesday. Congrats to the entire program for a terrific season!
