Alas, there are no more World Cup games for a year, until the Women’s World Cup next summer in France. But hey, at least there’s basically no chance that the U.S. Women do not qualify for that (ed. note: Knock on wood!).
A world champion was crowned this weekend, and a champion of our prediction bracket was also crowned.
That champion was Patrick Stoll, who won the contest with 123 points. Patrick picked France to win the title, and so secured 16 points in the semis, and then 32 in the final. Congrats to Patrick!
Second was the Orange & Black SoccerCast who ended with 104 points. They also had France as champions, and after getting off to a rough start in the early rounds, stormed to a late rally to finish second place.
Third was Alicia Rodriguez, who finished with 88 points. Alicia had France in the final, but had them losing to Spain.
Fourth was Matt Clark with 79 points. Matt had a good run, but failed to correctly pick the semi or final winners.
Last place was myself, Ryan Goodwin with 70 points. I also whiffed on the semi and final picks.
And since no one picked Belgium to make the semis, no one got the 3rd place match correct either.
Congrats again to Patrick, and hopefully everyone enjoyed making these picks!
