Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Timbers

Which player stood out in the Open Cup clash?

MLS: U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal-Los Angeles FC vs Portland Timbers Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club continued to make their way through the 2018 U.S. Open Cup, defeating the Portland Timbers 3-2 on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round.

Goals came through own goal (goes by “OG”), Carlos Vela and Marco Ureña, although the Timbers scored twice to make things interesting throughout.

So now it’s time to vote for LAFC Man of the Match on an Open Cup night. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:

  • Mark-Anthony Kaye: Another strong two-way shift for LAFC. Kaye has really grown into the role and has developed into a top central midfielder in MLS.
  • Tyler Miller: Had four saves on the night, did let in two goals but his double save early on Dairon Asprilla was especially vital to the win.
  • Marco Ureña: Scored a goal! And it won the game! Also, put in a great shift in his first start for LAFC since breaking his face at the home opener.
  • Carlos Vela: Set up the own goal and added a beauty of his own. Vela kicked off his U.S. Open Cup career in style.
