Orange County SC aim to return from their two-game road swing with full points, as they conclude the jaunt to the middle of the country with a meeting against Saint Louis FC on Saturday.
OC may be piling up wins, coming off an impressive 4-0 victory over Swope Park Rangers in Kansas City on Wednesday, but they’re really in need of more wins to keep pace near the top of the Western Conference. With so many teams and so many good sides in the hunt, Orange County can’t afford to become complacent at this stage.
Their opponent is coming in on a run of tricky form, winless in four and are starting to fall off the pace to get into the playoffs, currently sitting six points out of the last spot, albeit with three games in hand. Anthony Pulis’ side will be eager to get back in the race and should put up a tough test, although we’ve seen Orange County be a very good road team most of the time this season.
The teams did meet earlier in the year in Irvine, ending in a 1-1 draw, one where Orange County were thoroughly frustrated by a game Saint Louis side. Will we see a similar game here? Only one way to find out.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 36 points (11-6-3), 4th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +21; Last five games: W-W-L-W-L
Saint Louis FC: 22 points (5-6-7), 10th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3; Last five games: L-D-D-L-W
