Los Angeles Football Club suffered a not-entirely-stunning collapse against the LA Galaxy on Thursday, but on the bright side they held on for a 2-2 draw at Banc of California Stadium. The result still stings, however, for several reasons: It was a rivalry game, and a chance for LAFC to exact some revenge on the Galaxy for the first edition of El Trafico, LAFC had a 2-0 lead into the 80th minute, and midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye suffered a major injury.
Still, you take the bad with the good, and let’s open up the Man of the Match poll for this game, with nominees selected by Angels on Parade staff:
- Latif Blessing: Didn’t get on the scoresheet, but his industry was immense, and many have argued that his exit in the 81st minute helped precipitate LAFC’s collapse.
- Mark-Anthony Kaye: A sentimental pick, but Kaye did start the game well and his departure and the news of his ankle fracture seemed to leave LAFC shocked and that factor seemed to play a role in the capitulation.
- Lee Nguyen: Scored a beauty of a free kick
- Carlos Vela: Once again, Vela started the game in the perfect way, scoring the opener in the first 10 minutes to help set the tone for LAFC (for 80 minutes).
