LAFC change kickoff of Saturday’s game vs. Orlando City SC to 8 pm PT

Excessive heat in Southern California this weekend made a day game a danger.

Los Angeles Football Club announced on Thursday that they’ve have shifted the kickoff time of their game on Saturday against Orlando City SC at Banc of California Stadium to 8 pm PT.

The game, originally scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm PT following the day’s final World Cup quarterfinal match on Fox, was shifted because of extreme heat forecast for Los Angeles this weekend. Projections are that the temperature will be 100 in LA on Saturday afternoon, and after a day game earlier this season against FC Dallas in which the temperature was in the 90s led to complaints from LAFC and fans in the stands, it was sensible to shift this game’s kickoff, with some temps in the region expected to exceed 110 degrees.

Instead of airing on Fox, the game will now air on FS1, both in the LA region and nationally.
