The honors keep pouring in for Los Angeles Football Club forward Adama Diomande, who was voted MLS Player of the Month for June, as announced by the league on Thursday.
Diomande, who signed with LAFC as a transfer deadline-day addition in May, has started life in MLS in spectacular fashion, scoring seven goals in his first five league appearances, an MLS record. Among that run in June, was a hat trick in a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Union, the first-ever hat trick by an LAFC player in the team’s inaugural season. He won MLS Player of the Week for that performance.
MLS Player of the Month is voted on by select media members. Diomande is the first LAFC player to win Player of the Month, and while he didn’t score in his first game in July, he tallied two assists in a 2-2 draw against the Houston Dynamo on Thursday, bringing his stats in league play to seven goals and two assists in six appearances, just 387 minutes of game action.
Congratulations to Adama, and here’s hoping the accolades continue to pour in for him and LAFC.
