Orange County SC are back in action for their second game of the week, as they host LA Galaxy II in the final edition of the 405 Derby in 2018.
OC are 2-0-0 in the first two meetings of the rivalry this season, having beaten Galaxy II 3-0 at home, before running away with a late 1-0 win in Carson last month. So they already have the bragging rights with the season series, but this is a chance to take the sweep for the season, which would surely be appreciated by the Orange County SC supporters, in addition to helping OCSC keep pace in the Western Conference.
One disclaimer on the good vibes is that Galaxy II have played substantially better the past few months, something on display in their last meeting against Orange County. Mike Munoz has a young team, but with 15-year-old hotshot Efrain Alvarez finding his footing, if LA scores they tend to score in bunches. That’s not to say they have figured everything out, but Galaxy II aren’t an opponent to take lightly.
A final note for Orange County: If they can continue to pick up points, they’ll stay right in the mix atop the Western Conference. We know they’ve struggled against the top teams so far this year, but if they can keep getting points against the teams below them, they’ll have time to figure out how to get the better of the teams at the top.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 30 points (9-5-3), 5th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +17; Last five games: W-L-W-D-W
LA Galaxy II: 16 points (4-9-4), 14th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -5; Last five games: W-L-L-L-W
