LAFC advance to quarterfinals of U-13 Concacaf Champions League

Knockout games begin on Sunday.

Los Angeles Football Club’s academy is in the middle of their 2018 U-13 Concacaf Champions League tournament, and so far, so good, as they have qualified for the quarterfinals after posting a 2-1-0 record in group play this week in Toluca, Mexico.

They won their first game, 4-1, on Wednesday against Jamaica’s Mount Pleasant Academy, then followed that up with a 4-1 win over Mexico’s Cantera Yucatan on Thursday.

In the group decider on Friday, however, LAFC fell short, losing 4-1 to Panama’s Plaza Amador. So the baby black-and-gold finished second in Group C play, but that was good enough to advance to the quarterfinals.

LAFC will play against fellow MLS opposition in their knockout stage match on Sunday, against Group D top finisher Toronto FC. If they progress, they would then play in the semifinals on Monday, and then in final or third-place game on Wednesday.

Best of luck to the boys, and if you want to watch any of the games, past or future, you can watch them on Concacaf’s website.
