Orange County SC announced on Monday they have appointed a player/manager for their new eSports team, in Mike Culp (gamer handle: Da_Culprit). The Orange County resident is a fan of the club and has extensive experience as a competitive FIFA gamer and as a manager in Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG), the league where Orange County SC’s eSports team will play this fall.
“We’re excited to be part of the eSports world, and to build a team that has fun competing together and proudly represents our club,” said Orange County SC Owner James A. Keston in a team statement. “Signing a local gamer and soccer fan as our first manager and player was a huge priority for us. We believe Mike will be a key contributor to Orange County SC eSports, and he will be integral to helping us create a dynamic FIFA team in conjunction with the launch of FIFA 19.”
In addition, Orange County SC announced they would be holding tryouts for the eSports team this week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, all at 6 pm PT. If you’re interested in trying out, you can apply through this Google form. Don’t delay, as the season gets underway in October.
