Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. New England

Which player stood out for the black-and-gold?

MLS: New England Revolution at Los Angeles FC Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club returned from their bye with a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution on Saturday night at Banc of California Stadium. Marco Ureña’s first goal in league play for LAFC was canceled out by Brandon Bye’s first goal in MLS late.

So it was a night of “some good, some bad” but win, lose or draw, we hold a Man of the Match poll every game, and there were certainly nominees this time around for LAFC, as chosen by Angels on Parade staff.

  • Steven Beitashour: Yes, the LAFC defense fell asleep collectively on the equalizer, but Beitashour was strong throughout and offered an auxiliary attacking threat, especially early in the game.
  • Tyler Miller: Seven saves for the goalkeeper, who put in another strong performance for LAFC. If he keeps playing like this, he’ll be the definite No. 1 for this team long-term..
  • Marco Ureña: If at first you don’t succeed...Ureña had to wait for his first goal in league play with LAFC, his 14th game in all, but he finally got it, and with a well-taken one-timer shot, too.
