With Orange County SC atop the Western Conference in USL at the moment after another road win, it’s little surprise they have another representative on the USL Team of the Week, as the league announced on Tuesday that defender Walker Hume was named to the Team of the Week for Week 27.
Hume, 25, started and played the full 90 for Orange County in a 1-0 win over Fresno FC on Sunday, and nearly scored the game-winner himself in the second half, only for his header to bounce off the crossbar.
The Texan, in his second season with OCSC, has played 19 games in league play for the team to date this year, playing as part of a four-man center back rotation with Thomas Juel-Nielsen, Jos Hooiveld and Alex Crognale, to considerable success. With so many players performing for Braeden Cloutier’s team, Hume has gone under the radar, but definitely deserves the honor for his strong and steady play.
