Orange County SC are back on the road for a Sunday afternoon matinee, as they’ll face Seattle Sounders 2 in their new home in Tacoma for the teams’ first meeting of the season.
OC are coming off a rare loss, to Rio Grande Valley FC last week, and will try to keep pace in the Western Conference, after Phoenix Rising jumped above them with a total outburst of scoring in recent weeks to move ahead on goal difference (OCSC’s is an eye-popping +24, by the way).
While S2 have been one of the most competitive MLS2 teams in recent years, this season it’s not the case, as they are second-bottom in the West and are playing teenagers and prospects for the most part, and that is affecting their results. That said, that’s a valid component for a development squad, and it could open the door for Orange County to jump back into the win column.
Of course, Orange County’s last opponent, RGVFC, sits just above Sounders 2 in the standings and on paper looked like a likely win before that game. We’ll have to see how OCSC match up to S2 and if they can pick up some points on Sunday afternoon.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 50 points (15-7-5), 3rd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +24; Last five games: L-W-W-W-W
Seattle Sounders 2: 18 points (5-16-3), 16th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -24; Last five games: D-L-L-W-L
