LAFC defender Walker Zimmerman named to MLS Team of the Week

Brace and shutout in win get the CB the nod.

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at Los Angeles FC Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club were back in the wins last week, and no surprise, one of the players who played a key role, defender Walker Zimmerman, was highlighted in the MLS Team of the Week.

Zimmerman scored two goals, his first for LAFC and his first career brace, in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes at The Banc on Saturday.

The defender’s timing was impeccable, after word trickled out last week that he was pondering a move to Europe after his contract ends at the end of this year. While he is apparently negotiating with LAFC, the team and player have yet to come to an agreement on his future at the club. As a result, the game-winning brace is likely to help Zimmerman’s cause, whether that’s with LAFC or a team abroad.

Congrats to Walker, and long may the honors (and wins) continue to pour in.
