Orange County SC haven’t had international players head out on national team duty this season, possibly a factor in their success without players coming and going at various times in the campaign. But last week, one of their own got a call, as goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes was named to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team by head coach Shaun Tsakiris, for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament.
CONGRATULATIONS @orangecountysc goalkeeper @aaroncerv20 for being named to the @ussoccer @ussoccer_mnt U-17 MNT team vs. @miseleccionmx @Argentina @LaRoja #GoAaronGo #USA #USL #MyOCSC ⚽️

The tournament will see the USMNT take on U-17 squads from Mexico, Argentina and Chile in Mexico City, the competition taking place today through Oct. 8.
Cervantes, 16, has been called up to the U-17 USMNT before, but I believe this is his first call-up since signing his pro contract in March. The Chino Hills native has been the reserve goalkeeper all year, so he hasn’t seen any competitive action, but it seems likely if his progress is coming along in training he’ll get a chance in the future.
Congrats to Aaron, and best of luck in the tournament.
