Los Angeles Football Club announced on Friday that there is another schedule change for the regular season slate, as their game against the Houston Dynamo has been moved to Friday, Oct. 12.
The game, originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, was timed kind of oddly anyway, with MLS playing few Thursday-night league games in general and the entire league playing simultaneously the final two weekends of the season, including on Sunday, Oct. 21. Instead, this game will be pushed back almost a week, and LAFC won’t have a bye followed by a crunch of two games in quick succession right before the end of the season.
Sometimes, these shifts are made for television purposes, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here, as the game will remain on local TV according to the team’s release. There’s a chance an event could be booked for Oct. 18 at Banc of California Stadium, but on the surface, this move just looks like a simple timing matter, with the shift making a lot more sense heading into the final games of the regular season.
