Los Angeles Football Club opened training camp for the 2019 season on Monday, and revealed their six-game preseason slate ahead of the MLS regular season opener on March 3.
For the second year in a row, LAFC will open their preseason slate against Toronto FC, this year’s clash coming on Sunday at UC Irvine.
The showcase preseason game will be on Jan. 31, at Banc of California Stadium against J-League outfit Vissel Kobe, a game previously announced. This is the only game fully open to the public, and tickets are on sale now.
From there, there are four games against MLS opposition: Feb. 4 against Columbus Crew SC, Feb. 10 against Atlanta United, Feb. 16 against San Jose Earthquakes and Feb. 23 against Vancouver Whitecaps, now managed by former LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos. All four games will be at The Banc, but the only game that will be open to the public of these four will be the last one, which will be open to season ticket members, with details coming at a later date.
So preseason looks like it will proceed the same way as last year: Stay in LA the whole time, a half-dozen games. There’s a chance they could add a game along the way, but they didn’t do it last year so I’d guess they’ll likely stick with this slate. And they got off to a great start last year, so if it ain’t broke, am I right?
