LAFC down Toronto FC 3-1 in first match of preseason

Nice way to start the preseason.

Los Angeles Football Club started off the preseason on the right foot, beating Toronto FC 3-1 in their first preseason match on Sunday at UC Irvine.

The results in preseason are not all that important, but in general it’s nice to win rather than lose the games.

Carlos Vela was heavily involved in the goals, picking up right where he left off last year.

He got an assist on the first one to Andre Horta, and it was very nice to see him score right away. Horta will be important next season, and having his confidence up could go a long way toward good performances.

Later on Vela took a shot which hit off the post, and then was deposited in by Diego Rossi.

In the second half, new LAFC draftee Peter-Lee Vassell scored a penalty kick and sealed the win.

Again, not all the much can be taken from one preseason game, but LAFC preformed well, and its nice to see the attack put in some goals.

The midfield that started was a Lee Nguyen, Horta, and Atuesta midfield. Maybe this could be a sign of things to come?

Baggio Husidic also made his debut for LAFC. The former Galaxy man, currently on trial with LAFC, could also provide some depth in the midfield area.

LAFC also squared up against their former captain, Laurent Ciman, who joined Toronto FC over the offseason. Best of luck to him this year with the Reds.

A solid performance and no injuries in a preseason game? Can’t ask for much more than that.
