Orange County will wrap up the 2019 USL Championship regular season with a home match against Fresno FC on Saturday night at Orange County Great Park.
The game is the final tune-up for both sides ahead of the playoffs, for which both teams have already qualified, and they will look to get the best seeding possible. Fresno are in 3rd place and could potentially finish in 2nd, while Orange County are in 5th and want to clinch a home playoff game, which they would get if they move ahead of Real Monarchs in 4th place, who are two points ahead of them.
While Fresno have had a good season, they are four games winless, a stretch that is likely not coincidental, after reports emerged that the club is likely to not return in 2020. That’s pretty unfortunate for both the members of the club who aren’t the owner, the city and the league, and it’s not exactly shocking the team’s form has gone into the tubes as a result of the pessimism around the club’s future. Still, they’ve had a good season overall, and should be a good test for Orange County ahead of the playoffs.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 51 points (14-10-9), 5th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +9; Last five games: W-L-W-L-W
Fresno FC: 57 points (16-8-9), 3rd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +16; Last five games: D-L-L-L-W
