USL leagues are running their annual “20 Under 20” list this week, and there’s Orange County SC representation on the list on the 2019 edition, in the form of goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes, who has been ranked No. 9.

Cervantes, 17, signed with Orange County for the 2018 season, and made his first-team debut this year, and has made 11 league appearances, where he’s tied for second on the team in shutouts.

Cervantes is projected to be selected to go to the U-17 World Cup for the United States, which begins later this month in Brazil.

One interesting note from the profile on Cervantes as part of the 20 Under 20 package, is Orange County SC head coach Braeden Cloutier saying he thinks the teenager could be ready for the next level in his career the season after next:

“He’s doing everything he’s been asked. He’s progressed a lot more I think than maybe a lot of us expected right now, but the sky’s the limit. I think for him to get into next season and keep gaining minutes and confidence, I think he’ll be ready for that next move probably in a year’s time to get up to the next level.”
