It’s not too hard to guess.

The world was not engulfed in fire and brimstone in 2019, so we are thankful for that, first of all.

But it’s so much more than that. 2019 was a great year for Angels on Parade.

We had Los Angeles Football Club. And they won this.

We are so thankful.

All of the LAFC squad was great. Their leader was the MLS Coach of the Year, Bob Bradley, who we are thankful for.

Special recognition to Carlos Vela, who scored this goal (plus over 30 more, but who’s counting)...

...and won the MLS MVP award after the best season in MLS history. We are so, so thankful.

We are thankful for the culture that has sprung up around LAFC in the fanbase. Supporters groups maturing, new ones forming, so many podcasts for every angle and taste, more merch than you can buy. It feels amazing to be part of this community.

We are thankful to Orange County SC, covering them week in, week out for five years now. The club, the USL and this site have changed A LOT in that time, but we are thankful to be a part of Orange County SC’s culture and to see the changes over time have been for the better.

Last and never least, thank you to you, the readers. This was Angels on Parade’s best year ever, not just because LAFC won the first trophy we’ve ever had the privilege to cover, not because both teams we cover went to the playoffs this year, not because the games were by and large fun to watch (not always a given in this business!). It was our best year because of your support and we are so very, very thankful for it. Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving!
