LAFC sign eMLS player Martin “RemiMartinn” Oregel

22-year-old becomes first eMLS player for club.

Los Angeles Football Club announced on Wednesday they have signed Martin Oregel as their first eMLS player. The 22-year-old, who goes by the handle “RemiMartinn” will compete for LAFC in eMLS and other competitive gaming competitions and exhibitions.

Oregel is a native of Los Angeles, and previously played for Christian Fuchs’ “NoFuchsGiven” eSports team. He emerged from the pack in the series of online and in-person competitions LAFC set up to find their first eSports signing. He’s currently ranked 34th in the world, one of the highest rankings among the eMLS players for the upcoming season.

The 2020 eMLS season will kick off in January, with two League Series tournaments, in Philadelphia on Jan. 10 and in Portland on Feb. 15. eMLS Cup will take place Mar. 21 in Austin, Texas. With LAFC involved in eMLS for the first time, we’ll see how the inaugural run goes with Oregel.
