Probably a coincidence, but ever since I began doing recaps of Los Angeles Football Club podcasts, several shows’ output has increased to truly prodigious degrees. I look forward to listening to six shows each from every podcast next week.
The summary for this week is there were a lot of good interviews.
Soccer Weekly with Dave Denholm
LAFC radio voice Dave Denholm’s weekly show on ESPN features talk that discusses a wide range of soccer topics, but usually a decent amount of LAFC talk, too. Last week’s show included an interview with Walker Zimmerman. Among the highlights was Zimmerman discussing why he re-signed with the black-and-gold, saying the California lifestyle was irresistable.

Shoulder 2 Shoulder
Chris and Christian snag Tyler Miller for their episode this week, as the starting goalkeeper for LAFC talks fundraising in the fight against cancer, his background and how he got into becoming a ‘keeper, and his journey as a pro to date.
FCFC
Two episodes on the culture this week. One is of outgoing The 3252 president and Heart of LAFC co-host Josef Zacher (cross-over!), a shorter episode that does a good job discussing the background of running the group and supporter culture in general.
In his final interview as @LAFC3252's first-ever president, @j_zacher was gracious enough to stop by the backyard: he breaks what @lafc's 3252 actually is, what it's not, how it functions, and reflects on his tenure before tmrw's elections — https://t.co/eMPbnbB8ji

The second episode focuses on The Athletic’s Ryan Wallerson, a New York native who covered the initial launch of New York City FC. There’s interesting talk comparing and contrasting the set-up around NYCFC and LAFC, and good perspective reminding LAFC fans that building a new stadium for the team’s first season is a colossal achievement - just look at NYCFC!
Morning L.A. — & those with LA sympathies elsewhere — & I guess, at least for this episode, NY sympathies — @RCWallerson (cohost of @LAFCSeasonPass) came on the pod to compare the @NYCFC and @LAFC expansion stories. He covered both inaugural seasons: https://t.co/cUloCfoetZ

Heart of LAFC
Three episodes total this week! In the first two, the guys welcome a couple of their writers to do a deep dive into the Atlanta United friendly and look ahead to the San Jose preseason clash on Saturday. They also talk about the outcome of The 3252 elections held this last week, with Josef walking through the process a bit.

Defenders of the Banc
Filly and the Scarf put out two episodes this week. The first, the longer one, featured an interview with David Brent-esque reality show persona Gary Gold. If you’re not familiar with the guy, keep in mind the entire thing is tongue-in-cheek. Also, some parts of the interview are not suitable for young ears, unless you want to answer some hard questions.
In their second episode, a truncated Valentine’s Day edition, they break the news that trialist Lamar Batista has signed with LAFC.
