Los Angeles Football Club played their second-to-last preseason game on Saturday, hosting the San Jose Earthquakes at The Banc. The visitors had the better of the action on the day, winning 3-0.

Magnus Eriksson opened the scoring in the 14th minute for the Quakes, followed by a goal and an assist by Chris Wondolowski, the first in the 29th...

and the second scored by Vako in the 85th minute.

LAFC’s starting lineup was: Tyler Miller; Steven Beitashour, Eddie Segura, Walker Zimmerman, Jordan Harvey; Mark-Anthony Kaye, Peter-Lee Vassell, Lee Nguyen; Carlos Vela, Diego Rossi, Adama Diomande. That’s likely to be a starting XI, with perhaps only Segura and Vassell making way (although I think both could be starters in competitive games).

Christian Ramirez entered in the 28th minute for Diomande. It’s interesting — Dio has been a quick sub more than once this preseason. Not sure if it’s a precaution or just Bob Bradley trying to get his players on the field.

Javi Perez replaced Kaye, Pablo Sisniega came on for Miller and Latif Blessing entered for Rossi at the half. Dejan Jakovic replaced Segura and a new name, Niko Hamalainen, replaced Harvey, both in the 71st minute. Finally, Shaft Brewer, Jr. replaced Vela in the 86th minute.

So, the preparations for the season are ramping up, with just one more preseason game scheduled, in a week’s time against the Vancouver Whitecaps, before the season opens on March 3. It’s just preseason, but hopefully this game helps prepare LAFC for the games that count coming up.
