LAFC podcast wrap: Butterflies for the season

You’re getting ready, and so are all the podcasts!

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at Los Angeles FC Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

No surprises on the Los Angeles Football Club podcast front this week, as the shows are getting ready for the season. Here we gooooooooooooooo...

Soccer Weekly

Dave Denholm has a nice interview with LAFC defender Steven Beitashour, and talks to writer Araceli Villanueva. This episode mostly revolves around LAFC although there’s a bit of other soccer talk, too, especially around Kepa vs. Sarri at Chelsea over the weekend.

Extratime

MLSsoccer’s official podcast has now pivoted to video (although you can still listen in podcast format, too) and while the show focuses on the entire league, they interviewed “We are LAFC” executive producer Jon Weinbach on the new LAFC documentary on ESPN+. He talks about the “pee man” too, it’s not just me, ok.

Season Pass

The reporters, no surprise, are gearing up for the season too. They quickly recap the Vancouver friendly, and talk about the general expectations for the season, before previewing the season opener. One key point from Ryan Wallerson that was especially compelling: LAFC have relied very heavily on Carlos Vela in the preseason. Can the team around him chip in with goals, too, when the season starts?

Heart of LAFC

Jerry and Josef get caught up on the recent happenings and gear up for the season opener.

Defenders of the Banc

Filly and the Scarf also go over what’s been happening for the team, and talk about the event this week at Niky’s, which was kept heavily under wraps aside from a trickle of info out of social media.

FCFC Podcast

The guys speak to Andrew Medina of Kicks to the Pitch, focusing on the culture around the sport. They got a dig in on SB Nation (shrug) but the teasing of Medina as he name-drops throughout the interview is entertaining.

Shoulder 2 Shoulder

The guys talk to 12-year-old instagram influencer Blake, who runs the LAFC Central account.
