Full time: NYCFC 2, LAFC 2. On balance a fair result, as the road team battled back twice for a draw. Thanks for following, we’ll have plenty more coverage coming on the game.
76th minute: Latif Blessing earns a penalty and Vela strokes it home for his second goal of the game. Even Steven again!
63rd minute: Goal NYCFC. Alex Ring with a tap-in. Rough defense on that one for the visitors.
Halftime: A goal apiece in a battling half that opened up as it went on. Break time, then back for more!
42nd minute: Gooooooooooooooal LAFC! Carlos Vela gets the throughball, slots it home and celebrates with a home run swing. Tie game!
39th minute: NYCFC goal. Alex Mitrita executes a one-man counterattack to perfection, beating three LAFC defenders and slotting it in to open his MLS account. LAFC down a goal.
LAFC make two changes in light of injuries. Danilo Silva makes his first start of the season at right back in relief of Steven Beitashour, and Latif Blessing takes Lee Nguyen’s spot in midfield. The guy really does play everywhere.
NYCFC bring in Ronald Matarrita and Ebenezer Ofori. The latter scored in the season opener.
NYCFC is coming off two consecutive draws versus Orlando City and D.C United, respectively. Although the club hasn’t gotten off to an ideal start, Romanian midfielder Alexandru Mitriță has proven to be one this season’s positive early revelations. Acquired this past transfer window from Romanian side Universitatea Craiova, Mitriță has quickly established himself as one of the most technically skilled players in the league.
LAFC’s backline will be without right back Steven Beitashour, further complicating the challenge of containing Mitriță, who tends to operate and attack from the left side of the field.
Los Angeles Football Club is coming off a magnificent showing against the Portland Timbers, putting together one of the most impressive team performances in recent memory. Carlos Vela, once again, put forth an extremely impressive performance, earning the highest Audi Player Index score of the week.
In addition to Beitashour being out, Lee Nguyen, somewhat surprisingly, has been listed as “questionable.” For NYCFC, midfielder Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has been listed as “questionable.”
Vegas bookmakers currently favor NYCFC (+105) while listing LAFC as (+245) underdogs. The odds for a draw are currently listed at (+260) (Via Westgate Las Vegas).
