The United States’ U-23 Men’s National Team released its roster on Tuesday for the first set of matches in the U-23 2020 Summer Olympics cycle, the first under newly named manager Jason Kreis. Included in the roster is Los Angeles Football Club forward Josh Perez, who is currently on loan at Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Champinship.

The friendlies will be on Friday, March 22 against Egypt and Sunday, March 24 against the Netherlands, and will both be played in Spain.

Perez joined LAFC in August from Serie A side Fiorentina. Shortly after, in September, he was loaned to Phoenix Rising until the end of the season. This season, he was loaned again to the USL side.

Perez has played for multiple levels of the U.S. youth system, making 22 appearances for the U-17s in 2014-2015, including playing in the 2015 U-17 World Cup. He has also appeared for the U-19 and U-20 sides.

LAFC’s young forward joins a side which will aim to make the first Summer Olympics since 2008.
