Orange County SC look to dust themselves off after a tough home opener last week, as they seek their first win of the season against USL Championship expansion team New Mexico United on Saturday at Orange County Great Park.

New Mexico may be an expansion team but we’ve seen that that doesn’t mean “pushover” necessarily, and they’re off to an unbeaten start through three games, including a midweek win over the same Tulsa Roughnecks team that spanked Orange County last weekend, so their spirits are high. Featuring a roster that has plenty of USL experience, including former OC Blues Josh Suggs and David Estrada, New Mexico’s attack looks fearsome and they will look to attack OC’s still-developing defense.

But Orange County will have plenty of motivation to ensure last week’s result was an aberration, and with another week of work together, I expect more chemistry and cohesion in the back for this game. Will that be enough against a team yet to lose in their existence? We’ll find out in the game.

Tale of the Tape:

Orange County SC: 1 point (0-1-1), 15th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -2; Last two games: L-D

New Mexico United: 5 points (1-0-2), 2nd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +1; Last three games: W-D-D

How to Watch Orange County SC vs. New Mexico United: The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm PT at Championship Soccer Stadium at Orange County Great Park in Irvine. You can watch the stream only on ESPN+.
