LAFC Podcast Wrap: So many shows

LAFC Pod Fam really outdoing themselves.

MLS: Los Angeles FC at Toronto FC Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

I have mentioned my absolute addiction to podcasts before, but I’ll be real: There were so many LAFC-related shows this week that I had a hard time listening to everything. Several shows/feeds had multiple episodes. Lots of content! Lots to choose from.

The MLS in-house podcast had an interview with Walker Zimmerman. He talks about his process for choosing to stay at LAFC and the “deflection or not?” talk on his winning goal against RSL.

The Locker Room

Walker Zimmerman brings on fellow center back Dejan Jakovic to talk other sports and fantasy sports. Does Jakovic have a future as a general sports pundit? Maybe!

Soccer Weekly

Dave Denholm’s show on ESPNLA was on early in the week, and he chats with Stix about coming to the team and his work in the community.

Inside LAFC

Max and Vince talk LAFC, of course, and at one point Vince begs Max to convince him (get it? Elbowing you in the ribs) to get into the NCAA men’s tournament. I’d say the pitch could use a bit of work yet.

LAFC Season Pass

The reporters go over the RSL win and preview the Quakes game. They have a lot of good tidbits on injuries, which players were training fully, which were limited, so always a good listen.

FCFC Podcast

The guys talk to Raymond An, who created a famous flag of South Korea for the 2018 World Cup using jerseys from 31 of the World Cup countries.

Defenders of the Banc

History made, a woman finally graced one of these podcasts, as Filli welcomes two women, his and The Scarf’s partners, Panda and Scarfette. There’s a lot made of the amount of estrogen present, which I guess, but both of the fill-in co-hosts knew their stuff.

Heart of LAFC

Ok, bumper week for Heart of LAFC, who came out with three (3) shows this week. Let me say this: I wholeheartedly agree with the suggestion that shows should only be about 40 minutes, it’s better to break them up than have them run really long. Every single podcast on the planet should follow this sage advice.

They recap the RSL win:

And preview the San Jose game:

And in their one-on-one series, talk to LAFC creative director Marcus McDougald:

Shoulder 2 Shoulder

Chris and Christian and Ultra Gringo also have two episodes this week. The first is an interview with Lenny Lanzi, a supporter who is part of the Figueroa Club and is part of the LGBTQ community. I think he offers a good perspective on the varied identities of LAFC fans.

The second episode focuses on Ultra Gringo and his significant other attending the RSL game.
