Los Angeles Football Club announced on Friday they have loaned goalkeeper Phillip Ejimadu to FC Tucson. They will be able to recall him at any time during the course of the season.

The 19-year-old joins FC Tucson, who are set to kick off the inaugural USL League One season on Saturday against Orlando City B. The league is a brand-new third-tier men’s professional league, but FC Tucson are not a new club, as they played from 2012-18 in the PDL, which has since been rebranded to USL League Two.

Ejimadu is the third-string LAFC goalkeeper, behind Tyler Miller and Pablo Sisniega, so it makes sense to send him on loan to possibly get some playing time. He joins Keenan Weekes and Carlos Merancio as FC Tucson’s goalkeepers heading into the season debut, so it’s unclear if he’ll slot in or will need to wait his turn for his loan team, too.

Saturday’s game will be in Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 pm PT and can be watched on ESPN+.
