It’s just a few minutes into a half, and when his team needs a goal in the first game, Diego Rossi is on the spot.
Could say that for 2018, or now, 2019 as well, as Rossi opened Los Angeles Football Club’s account for the new regular season on Sunday, as they hosted Sporting Kansas City at Banc of California Stadium.
The Uruguayan, who memorably scored the first goal in LAFC history last year in their debut match, received a ball on the left flank in the 47th minute, dribbled in, and finished with a pinpoint low curler to tie the game at 1-1.
Here’s hoping this will be a good omen for the player and the club for the season ahead. For now, the team has work to do to get the lead and take three points against a tough opponent in Sporting.
