After picking up an injury last month, Lee Nguyen should be available for selection for Sunday’s critical match up with the Seattle Sounders. after he was removed from Los Angeles Football Club’s injury report on Friday.
Initially listed with a hamstring strain, Nguyen presumably suffered a setback during recovery, as he picked up a soleus strain. If he’s back on Sunday, his presence will provide added depth to a thin midfield that has been plagued by injuries this season. I would expect him the training staff to manage his minutes accordingly.
Notably absent from the injury report was midfielder Latif Blessing, who was forced off due to an apparent shoulder injury sustained during the midweek game against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Blessing took to instagram to allay the fears of the LAFC faithful, letting everyone know that there was “nothing to worry about.”
However, Kevin Baxter of the Los Angeles Times noted that Bob Bradley said that Blessing would be a game time decision depending on his pain tolerance.
Bob said Latif could be a game-time decision. He had ice on his shoulder after training today. The issue is how much pain can he tolerate— Kevin Baxter (@kbaxter11) April 19, 2019
As for Rodolfo Zelaya, Adama Diomande and Andre Horta, who were listed again on the injury report, the folks at @lafcseasonpass noted they are participating in training, which could indicate their return is imminent in the coming weeks.
LAFC injury report as of 4/19/19:
- Rodolfo Zelaya (soleus)
- F Adama Diomande - (R Hamstring Strain)
- M André Horta - (R Quad Strain)
