After playing two games last week, Los Angeles Football Club heads north to face the Seattle Sounders with a full week of training under their belt. The most notable inclusion to the club’s injury list was right back Steven Beitashour, who is listed as questionable with left knee soreness. The training staff’s assessment of his availability could be affected by the game being played on artificial turf. This could pose potential problems if he is unable to go, as defender Danilo Silva is also out with a right hamstring strain. The loss at Vancouver exposed some issues with depth if Shaft Brewer Jr. or Latif Blessing is forced into that role.

This week saw forward Rodolfo Zelaya return to full training with the first team. While he had been previously seen training to the side and upgraded to questionable, the team released an official video noting his return was imminent. At the time of writing, Zelaya is officially considered questionable headed into Sunday.

In other good news on the injury front, forward Adama Diomande was upgraded to questionable after coming off with a hamstring strain against D.C. United. Additionally, Andre Horta is off the injury list entirely heading into this match. However, muscle strains can easily flare up and given the playing surface I would expect all of the returning players’ minutes to either be managed carefully or their returns held off until the Chicago Fire match at home on May 4.

As for the Seattle Sounders, coach Brian Schmetzer gave an injury update following their midweek draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. After missing the past four games with a heel contusion, forward Raul Ruidiaz is still in a walking boot and considered day-to-day. Forward Will Bruin is also out, having missed the past two matches with a hamstring injury. The San Jose match proved costly for Seattle as Gustav Svensson, Victor Rodriguez and Nouhou were all injured. Svensson is listed as out with a hamstring strain and Rodriguez was entered into the concussion protocol and will likely be a game-time decision.
While fans of both teams were hoping to see these teams play at full strength, it looks like that will have to wait until either the MLS Cup Playoffs or the U.S. Open Cup.
